The Scholarship for Global Korea Through the Korean Government Scholarship, GKS 2026, international students can pursue undergraduate degrees at several of South Korea’s top universities. The GKS Scholarship 2026 for undergraduate programs aims to strengthen mutual collaboration and promote goodwill between Korea and the participating countries. One of the biggest and most competitive scholarship programs in the world is this one. International students have a fantastic opportunity to study in Korea for free.

For overseas students, the Global Korea Scholarship 2026 offers complete funding. Students from more than 150 countries can apply for 280 scholarships offered by the Korean government. This program, formerly known as the Korean Government program Program (KGSP), remains a distinguished option for students looking to pursue high-quality education overseas.

There are a lot of strong arguments for studying in South Korea. Above all, South Korea’s educational establishments are ranked among the best in the world. The nation is also known for its stunning landscapes, rich cultural legacy, and extremely sophisticated educational system. Strong government assistance programs, a wealth of job options, and a good standard of living are further major draws. They can study in South Korea for free thanks to the country’s many fully financed scholarships.Two methods are available to apply.

The Embassy Track and the University Track are the two application tracks available for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2026. While 130 scholarships for bachelor’s and associate’s degree programs will be given out by the University Track, 150 candidates will be chosen for bachelor’s degree programs through the Embassy Track. Benefits:-

  • Up to 5 million KRW in tuition fees are reimbursed each semester; the institution also covers other expenses.
  • One year of rigorous Korean language instruction costs 5.2 million KRW, or roughly 12.84 million KRW annually.
  • The cost of a round-trip ticket in economy class.
  • Allowance every month: around 1,000,000–1,500,000 KRW, which includes:
  • Costs of living
  • Health coverage
  • Korean proficiency awards
  • Allowance for settlement
  • Coverage of TOPIK test fees
  • Grant for degree completion

Eligibility Criteria:-

  • The applicant must be a citizen of one of the participating nations for the Global Korea Scholarship.
  • Students who have completed high school or an associate’s degree program or are about to do so can enroll in the bachelor’s degree program.
  • Students who have previously completed high school or are about to do so can enroll in the Associate Degree Program.
  • The applicant shouldn’t be dual-national or Korean citizens.
  • Candidates must have completed high school or be anticipated to do so by December 1, 2025, and must be enrolled in either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program.
  • Candidates may only apply for bachelor’s degrees if they have an associate degree or are anticipated to graduate by December 1, 2025.
  • Candidates have to be younger than 25.
  • The candidates need to be healthy.

Application Method:-

  • Register as a member by visiting the official Study in Korea website.
  • Complete the online application, submit the appropriate files, and fill out all the areas. Send other documents (such as a portfolio) straight to the institution if requested.
  • To find out if there are any additional criteria for the department or university of your choice, consult the “University Information” file.
  • While certain colleges may need TOPIK Level 4 or higher, all GKS scholars must pass TOPIK Level 3 in order to start their degree program. Your scholarship will be revoked if you fail to fulfill these conditions.
  • Students can only enroll in certain degree programs during certain semesters (for instance, March only). You must verify whether your selected degree program will be offered in the upcoming semester if your language program is postponed.

  • Transcripts of high school grades and a certificate of graduation
  • Evidence of Age
  • Evidence of Korean Citizenship Renunciation Proof of Overseas Korean Certificates and other awards for documents (Optional)
  • Valid TOPIK score certificate (optional)
  • A valid English proficiency test certificate (optional)
  • copy of the applicant’s passport is optional.
  • Evidence of the Lineage of Korean War Veterans (ONLY for descendants of Korean War Veterans)

How to Submit Documents for the Global Korea Scholarship 2026:

First Round (Embassy or University Track): Use the Study in Korea system to submit your application and necessary documents online. The embassy or university will review them and determine whether they accept them; if they do, your documents will be forwarded to NIIED for the next step. Second Round (NIIED): Print the online application forms, sign them as necessary, and send the original recommendation letter in a sealed envelope. Send one original copy of each document.

Certifications:

  • Documents written in Korean or English need to be apostilled or verified by a consulate.
  • Provide a certified translation together with an apostille or consular certification if the documents are in a different language.
  • If an apostille cannot be obtained, high school graduation diplomas and transcripts may be accepted with consular confirmation.
