Eligibility Criteria:-

  • English is one of the required languages.
  • All nations in the world are eligible.
  • Both domestic and foreign students are eligible to apply for four-year fellowships. Although they may be available to ongoing PhD students, the fellowships are often awarded to students starting their first year of study.
  • For a maximum of four years, 4YF financing may be available; however, under certain conditions, the term of funding may be shorter (see the 4YF Guidelines for specifics).
  • Funding is always contingent upon adequate academic advancement.
  • Vanier Scholarships, Doctoral Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGSD), CIHR Doctoral Research Awards, NSERC Doctoral Postgraduate Scholarships (PGSD), and SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships are among the Tri-Agency awards that automatically make students 4YF designates. After their external scholarship funding expires, doctoral students who earn Tri-Agency scholarships may be eligible for 4YF tuition coverage. They will also receive 4YF stipend and tuition support until the completion of their fourth year of study.
