Fully Funded Global Affairs Canada International Scholarships 2026

International students at all academic levels can participate in fully funded research opportunities at the University of Alberta through the Global Affairs Canada International Scholarships 2026. These esteemed Canadian government scholarships, which provide worthwhile foreign academic experience in Canada, are given out according to the applicant’s level of study and the authorized research term.

Important initiatives including the Study in Canada Scholarships, the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships, and the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) are part of the Global Affairs Canada International Scholarships 2026. These programs promote global academic connections while allowing students to carry out short-term research under the guidance of University of Alberta faculty.

Advantages:-

$8,200 CAD for four months, $15,900 CAD for eight months, or $10,200 CAD for four months for undergraduates Graduate: $12,700 for five to six months; $11,100 for five to six months.

    Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, and El Salvador are all in Central America.
    North American Mexico
  • South America includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
  • Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) between Canada and ASEAN
  • Students from ASEAN member states, both undergraduate and graduate
  • Scholarships to Study in Canada
  • Graduate and undergraduate pupils from:
  • The Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia; Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, and Taiwan; Europe: Turkey, Ukraine;
  • Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda are all in Sub-Saharan Africa.

How Do They Choose Applicants?

A signed institutional partnership and student exchange agreement or a Letter of Invitation from the University of Alberta professor who has agreed to supervise you are required of undergraduate applicants seeking research-based experiences.
While not required, an inter-institutional agreement is preferred for graduate applicants.
At the time of application, students must be enrolled full-time in the degree program they wish to pursue.
Since language training is not covered by the scholarship, applicants must be fluent in either English or French, the language of instruction at the Canadian institution, prior to their arrival in Canada.

How to Apply?

  • Verify that you fulfill all qualifying requirements, such as your desired research length, home university enrollment, and study level.
  • Find a professor at the University of Alberta who can oversee your study and send them an email.
  • Your complete name, contact details, home country and university, current study level, degree year, scholarship program you are applying for, desired length of research, ideal start date, and attachments such as a CV, transcripts, and cover letter should all be included in your email.
  • Verify that the faculty member accepts your suggested plan and consents to oversee your research.
  • Before the deadlines, submit your completed application and any necessary supporting documentation via the University of Alberta’s internal site.
  • After reviewing submissions, the University of Alberta will recommend qualified applicants to Global Affairs Canada for ultimate selection.
  • Your scholarship offer and instructions for getting ready for your research stay in Canada will be sent to you once you are accepted.
